If you’ve never had the opportunity to see Elton John in concert, that ship has sailed. After a long and prolific music career, he finally embarked on his farewell tour and played his last song to a large crowd.

He was talking about his career in 2015 and his future touring schedule. He had to consider his children’s school schedule, so he decided that it was best to stop touring and focus on his family.

He spoke to Anderson Cooper in 2018, saying that he was going to embark on a final farewell tour which was called: “The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.” It got started in 2018 but the pandemic put a stop to it early.

When the tour was able to resume, he continued until he played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles at the end of 2022. It was even live-streamed by Disney because it was such a huge event.

He didn’t have any more shows in North America but he did continue his tour and completed it in July 2023.

The final stop was in Stockholm, Sweden, and it ended 330 shows on the tour in which he performed to over 6 million fans.

He posted a video on Instagram in tribute to the tour from 2018. He wrote: “What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it. Tonight is the final night.”

His final song was played at the last concert on July 8, 2023. That song, performed in Stockholm, Sweden, was appropriately, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

You can see him performing it in the following video:
